The Isle of Wight was the setting for the latest plaque to be unveiled following the 2010 National Railway Heritage Awards when the success of Brading Town Council for its restoration work of the local station was rewarded with the unveiling of the plaque for the Railway Heritage Trust Award on Thursday 5 May 2011. The award, made to projects that have been part-funded by the Railway Heritage Trust, was for the restoration of the station’s island platform building and signalbox and was originally announced at the award ceremony held on 1 December 2010.
Pictured in front of the newly unveiled plaque are, from left to right, Robin Attwell, Friends of Brading Station, Cathy Mills, Town Clerk of Brading Town Council, and Andy Savage, Director of the Railway Heritage Trust and a Trustee of the National Railway Heritage Awards
